한국처럼 영어에 진심인 나라가 또 있을까요? 

 

영어에 슬슬 반응을 조금씩 보이는 아이들을 위해 무작정 아이들이 좋아 할 만한 코믹북으로 영어 보충학습을 해주었는데... 한국은 아주 체계적으로 단계적으로 아이들에게 영어학습을 시행해 주고 있네요. 실제로 엄마표 영어로 여러가지 지수가 쏟아져 나오길래...이게 또 뭐람...

 

그래서 오늘은 AR (Accelerated Reader)지수란 것을 좀 살펴보았어요.

르네상스 러닝(Renaissance Learning)이라는 회사에서 개발한 다독을 권장하는 목적으로 만들어진 독서 학습 관리 프로그램이며 우리나라의 영어도서관과 영어 유치원에서 현재 많이 사용하고 있는 지표

AR은 어떻게 작동하는가?

- 평가 결과를 토대로 자신의 독서 수준에 맞는 도서 범위를 나타내는 ZPD(ZPD·Zone of Proximal Invelectione)를 배정한다.

- 그런 다음 학생들은 지피디 내에서 책을 선택하고 독립적으로 읽는다.

- 읽은 후에, 그들은 그들의 이해력을 시험하기 위해 책에 대한 퀴즈를 본다.

How does Accelerated Reader (AR) work?

AR 지수는 어떻게 나누어져 있나?

AR은 많은 학교에서 학생들의 독해력을 추적하기 위해 사용된다. 각 숫자 범위는 각 학년의 읽기 수준을 나타낸다. 예를 들어, 3.0은 3학년 독서 수준을 나타낸다. 그러나, 각 아이들은 그들에게 적합한 것을 시험함으로써 읽기 수준의 범위를 결정할 것이다.

지금 8살 아이가 읽고 있는 책의 AR지수(ㅋㅋㅋ)는 얼마나 될 지 한번 검색해 봤어요.

아 3.0이네요. 역시 너무 높은 레벨이셔서 제가 영어로 한번, 한국어로 번역해줘야 이해한다는...그래도 에피소드를 이해하며 저랑 깔깔거릴 때가 종종 있다죠. 내일 D&R에 가서 조금 레벨이 낮은 것으로 빨리 사봐야겠어요.
